Lakeside Community watch

Lakeside Community Watch (LCW) is made up from your neighbourhood which has just got bigger and better with the incorporation of Orchard Village. LCW covers “Lakeside” which incorporates all the areas in and around Lakeside, Zandvlei and Orchard Village for a happier, safer neighbourhood. LCW is purely a voluntary community based organisation with the aims of getting everyone working together for a better and safer Lakeside. LCW has partnered with SA Police Services, Constantia Valley Watches Association (CVWA), Various Neighbouring watch organisations, WCSS Armed response and with YOU the people of Lakeside! However we are so much more than just a crime prevention organisation, we aim to bring the community together to build a better Lakeside for all.

By the community, For the community.

What we do

We achieve this through:

  • Regular patrolling of our streets
  • Building networks to increase communication and knowledge amongst neighbours
  • Helping to prevent crime
  • Helping to develop community spirit
  • Providing a visible sign that residents care about their community
  • Getting people working together to make communities safer
  • Encouraging reporting of suspicious activity in your neighbourhood
  • Improving the level of personal and home security in the community

How can you help?

Help is always welcome

We know you love Lakeside and we would love to have you on board. While patrolling is one of our key areas we understand not everyone is able to… But there are so many other ways you can help!

  • Do you walk your dog? Or spend time driving in and around the suburb? You are already patrolling! You are our eyes and ears and we ask you to report any suspicious behaviour.
  • Maybe you have a flair for fund raising? Are a wizard in planning events? Is your pen mightier than any sword? Or do you just make the best snacks in Lakeside…We need you!
  • If perhaps you are tight with time but still want to get involved, we are always looking for donations to help cover monthly operating costs and work towards big projects like installing CCTV cameras at strategic spots.

Contact us as we would love to have you involved with whatever you have to offer.

Want to take it up a level?

Become a patroller! Its not as scary as it sounds, we promise. Our aim is to always have someone on patrol keeping you safe. The more patrollers we have, the more eyes we will have on the street keeping everyone safe. Patrollers always work in teams so you never alone and we are EYES AND EARS ONLY, we never get involved. For that we call in our back up… SAPS, Kirstenhof special response teams/ Law Enforcement(KCW SRT/LE) and WCSS always have our backs.  Each patrol session usually lasts around two hours but if its more or less we just happy to have you involved, Can you spare an hour or two a week?
