The power of community.

Update: 21 July 2016

This evening at 17:00, a resident noticed a young women walking aimlessly near Lakeside Station and who looked delirious.
She moved very quickly and headed up to Main Road. She tried to cross Main road and to my horror saw her step into the road in front of on coming cars. She’s was whisked out of the road barely avoiding being hit.
She wanted to buy a pie as something to eat from Phillips Fruiters.
We calmed her and kept her at WCSS office to keep her safe whilst we went and purchased a pie for her.
She was in desperate need of medical care as she did not know where she was, where she stayed or anything logical.
We headed down to Muiz SAPS and arranged that she be taken to Victoria Hospital. She would not get into the Police van so she was taken in our vehicle (we had gained her trust) and under police escourt went through to the Hospital.
We were fortunate with this escourt to skip the massive que and get treatment quickly.
Contact numbers were obtained of relatives and they were contacted.
Thank you to an alert / caring resident, “Dominique” for posting her concern on LCW’s chat group which then set off all the above action.
This is a what a Community Watch is about!
Thank you to a wonderful team. A very good story to tell!
