Break-in Incident

Incident Report: 3 September 2016

At approx 13:45 today, there was an attempted breakin at The Waterways complex off Cambridge Road near Lakeside Station.
The perp had climbed the trellis after gaining access to the property through the bush at the rear of the property.
The resident home alone, screamed which thankfully made the perp run away leaving her traumatized and also leaving a screwdriver behind.
AR and LCW patrollers all assisted in the search of the bushes, Vlei area, around the station etc, however shortly after he ran away a train left the station and it is thought the perp got on the train.
The area behind the waterways is open bush as are many of the residence’s on the Vlei.
It is highly recommended to install early warning systems like beams to warn of activity on your property.

Clearly in Aug and going into Sept, Kirstenhof and Lakeside are both reporting a serious increase in crime, so please take your security systems seriously, having them upgraded and checked to ensure they are working properly.

LCW will continue to work along with the community to beef up patrols and presence in the areas.

We wish the resident well after this ordeal and thank you to all that assisted today!
