As you are no doubt aware, Crowbar modus has accelerated immensely in the last two months.
Fresh on our minds was last week Wednesday’s M3 freeway closure due to Crowbar modus vehicle traveling at high speed to get away, colliding with oncoming vehicles.
The occupants of the perps vehicle circumbed to their injuries and several civilian occupants were quite badly injured, and we wish these people a speedy recovery.
Yesterday there was another Crowbar style breakin in Kirstenhof, and a well coordinated operation via KCW patrollers and Constantia Valley Watch Association members, SAPS, led to their apprehension in Kyalitsha.
LCW are part of this same synergy and recently we used the same technique to retrieve a vehicle that was stolen from Zandvlei.
Within 1.5 hrs the vehicle along with the perps and a support vehicle were apprehended!
We would like to thank each and every member of our LCW team who work so hard behind the scenes to ensure LCW moves forward, also those that are out on patrol making a difference to yours and my safety in Lakeside and Zandvlei.
If anyone has any doubts as to whether Neighborhood Watch’s make a difference, well since LCW’s inception on 1st March this year, SAPS report that crime is down by 60% in our precinct.
Besides crime being down, there have been so many community service accounts where LCW has assisted:
Numerous Medical Emergencies and resuscitation.
Stranded vehicles who’s occupants were assisted to get home safely.
Bush cleanups.
Assisting at several Motor Vehicle Accidents as well as their victims.
Recovering of many lost pets.
The list goes on!
Working along with our neighbors in other neighborhood watch’s is absolutely vital and the sharing of information to make arrests possible.
Thank you one and all involved.
You really can hold your heads high.
